Course Description

Main features This course is for students who already hold a Higher National Diploma, Foundation Degree or equivalent qualification at merit level in a related subject (or at pass level for an Ordinary Degree)and leads to the award of an Honours (or Ordinary) Degree after only one further year of full time study. The course will develop your equine management knowledge and ability. The content has been designed to reflect the skills and knoweldge you will need to succeed in a position of responsibility in the equine industry. We have excellent links with the industry through our Equine Industrial Liaison Panel and the programme has been carefully designed to meet their requirements. This degree is awarded and validated by Harper Adams University College. Careers and Progression If you successfully complete this course at an appropriate level you could progress to postgraduate studies at MSc then PhD levels. As the topics included in the degree are wide ranging, there are many career routes open to you. Previous students have gone on to careers in education, yard management and coaching. Schedule: 21 September 2009 Price : ?600 Entry requirements GCSEs at grade C or above in English and mathematics plus: a Foundation Degree, Higher National Diploma or equivalent in a relevant subject with a merit award (those with a pass at this level may study for an Ordinary Degree) plus: a satisfactory reference (Mature candidates over the age of 21 without academic qualifications may be considered on their indivudal merit) What you will study You will study a range of areas and topics. These include science-based subjects such as nutrition, behaviour and advances in equine research. You will also cover a range of management-related topics to ensure you are equipped to succeed within the equine industry. Assesment Assessment is by a variety of methods including case studies, reports, practical witness testimonials, presentations and examinations.
