Biology Qualification and Level A Level - Level AS Entry Requirements GCSE grade BB or higher in Double Science and grade A* to C in Mathematics Content AS modules: Biology and Disease: includes a study of the blood and circulation, lung structure and the digestive system and how these are affected by disease. The variety of living organisms: Includes a study of how genetic and environmental factors influence variation. Classification and biodiversity. Investigative and Practical skills: (20% of AS assessment) A2 modules: Populations and Environment: Ecology; Respiration; Photosynthesis; Evolution. Control in cells and in organisms: Coordination; Homeostasis; Gene technology. Investigative and Practical skills (20% of A2 assessment) Extra Activities The course will include ecology field work. The chance to participate on a residential field trip may be offered which can provide invaluable experience of fieldwork techniques in some beautiful locations Progression Biology is particularly suitable for careers in health, social services and sport and can lead to study of many biological sciences at degree level
