Basic Construction Skills Certificate - Painting and Decorating 6217 03 Course Level: Level 1 - Further Education equivalent to BTEC Introductory Diploma or NVQ1 Reference Number: QWB1TC02/CAFAW Introduction This qualification will provide you with an introduction to the basic skills required for painting and decorating. Units include applying emulsion to walls, doors and frames, glazing, stripping and wallpapering. What will be covered in the course? The qualification is made up of eight units: 1. Painting a timber window frame 2. Painting doors and frames 3. Applying emulsion to wall by roller 4. Applying oil-based paints to walls by roller 5. Removing and hanging wallpaper to walls 6. Hanging paper to ceilings and painting 7. Introduction to glazing for painting and decorating 8. Removal and refitting a water-filled radiator Course dates and times Offered at various times, please contact us for further information. What qualification(s) can be gained? City & Guilds Certificate in Basic Construction Skills in Painting and Decorating at Level 1 (6217-03) How is the course assessed? The course is assessed through the completion of a workbook and observations of practical work. Additional costs Funding may be available. Attendance and additional study hours Monday to Friday from 09.00 - 17.00 for 13 weeks Further information Solihull College offers full time and part time courses for businesses and residents in Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Coventry Warwickshire and the whole of the West Midlands. This course can lead to an Apprenticeship scheme in painting and decorating or a career in painting and decorating.
