BARBERING A One Year Full Time Programme of Study - City & Guild NVQ L2 A flexible approach to study will give you the opportunity to achieve NVQ Level 2 Barbering consisting of : - Ensure your own actions reduce risks to Health & Safety - Fulfil salon reception duties - Give client's a positive impression of yourself and your organisation - Advise and consult with clients - Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work - Cut hair using basic barbering techniques - Cut facial hair to shape using basic techniques - Shampoo and condition hair and scalp - Dry hair to shape to create finished looks for men How Will I Learn? You will experience a variety of learning styles and methods which involve a combination of: - modules - practical work - team work - theory based learning How Will I Be Assessed? You can be assessed on any particular unit after negotiaion with your assessor. Competence is assessed by a combination of the following: - Through the observation of your practical skills - Through answering oral questions - Through answering written papers andor completing assignments set by City & Guild - A portfolio of Evidence What Do I Need To Study This Subject? Initially you will be required to attend a guidance interview and although no formal academic qualifications are required, you should have obtained a good standard of written English. You should also have a good record of attendance and punctuality, good health, a desire to work hard and be able to communicate effectively and work as part of a team. Also within the fashion industry it is necessary to demonstrate a smart, clean appearance and pleasant personality. Full attendance is required at all times. Dress Code You will be required to purchase a uniform from college, details of this are on the separate sheet and will be discussed at the interview. Continued Over Page.......... When Will I Have To Attend? The one year programme is over 38 weeks and will be on Wednesday and Thursday evenings and Thursday afternoon. What Will I Gain At The End Of The Programme? You will gain a National Vocational Qualification in Barbering Level 2. What Could I Do At The End Of The Programme? You will be able to progress onto NVQ L3 in Barbering.
