Course Description

BA Health Studies (Generic) The course focuses on contemporary health and community issues which will include psychology, sociology, social policy, health economics, health informatics, health improvement and public health and health care ethics. Level BA Duration & Mode 3 years, full-time by supported distance learning. Also available for Part-time study. Online Description The course focuses on contemporary health and community issues which will include psychology, sociology, social policy, health economics, health informatics, health improvement and public health and health care ethics. Graduates will be aware of the importance of the role of health development initiatives from policy to operational levels. Choice, flexibility, opportunity and diversity are just some elements of this course. Level 1 is common to the three strands of the course (BA Health Studies, BA Health Studies (Health and Welfare), and BA Health Studies (Rural Health)), and features seven core modules and a choice of options for the final module. For levels 2 and 3, there are common core modules, before students choose units in their specific areas of study or interest: Health Studies, Rural Health Studies or Health and Welfare Studies. This course will be available online within a Virtual Learning Environment, with materials augmented by tutorials, seminars and group activities as appropriate. You can study this course from home, or from a learning centre. College attendance is not required but access to a PC is essential. All applicants should have the level of IT literacy required to study online. The course is flexible and can be followed on a full-time or part-time basis. Some modules can be studies on a stand-alone basis. In this manner, the required credits for each level can be accrued flexibly. Assessments will be through a series of assignments and formal examinations. Exit points at the end of each level of the course will reward your hard work with a qualification. If you only wish to study one level, you can earn an HE Certificate in Health Studies, progressing to an HE Diploma in Health Studies, or Rural Health Studies, or Health and Welfare Studies after completing level 2.
