Course Description

What you will study Unit 1 - Working with Algebraic and Graphical Techniques In this unit you will model your own data with appropriate functions, investigate functions commonly used to model real situations using graphing and analytical techniques. Unit 2 - Using and Applying Statistics In this unit you will develop a critical approach to the use of statistics in the real world, learn about statistical measures and diagrams, develop an understanding of key ideas involving the distribution of data, correlation and regression and report on investigations you carry out. Unit 3 - Applying Mathematics This unit will involve you in modelling real-life situations using the mathematical techniques learned throughout the course. How you will learn You will be taught in groups using a combination of lectures, classes and workshops over five hours per week. How you will be assessed The course is assessed by a mixture of portfolio work and final examinations. Unit 1 - 50% portfolio and 50% exam. Unit 2 - 50% portfolio and 50% exam. Unit 3 - 100% exam.
