Animal Management National Diploma Qualification and Level National Diploma Level 3 - Level 3 Duration Two years Entry Requirements 5 GCSEs at grades A to C which must include, English and Double Science or First Diploma in Animal Care (Distinction grade) (must have Merit grade for Biology unit) and Key skills Literacy at Level 2. For mature students, practical experience may be acceptable Content Key Skills and Tutorials. Students will study the following units over the 2-year period: ? Animal behaviour ? Business management ? Specialist study ? Practical animal handling and husbandry ? Anatomy and physiology ? Breed development and welfare ? Care and welfare of farm livestock Breeding ? Nutrition ? Animal health ? Wildlife and rehabilitation Management of exotics ? Ecology and conservation ? Industry experience ? Biochemistry and microbiology ? Animal nursing ? Management of animal collections Extra Activities The course involves a combination of lectures, practicals, laboratory work, animal house duties, visits, a period of work experience and a study tour to Borneo. Students will be based at the Bristol Zoo Gardens and Filton main site. Students studying the second year of the National Diploma in Animal Management will have the opportunity to travel abroad to various locations around the world. Areas such as the Rain Forests of Borneo or the Everglades of America will give students knowledge and experience vital in the understanding of Ecology and Wildlife Conservation Progression To study foundation or honours degree, Higher National Diploma or work in such areas as rare breeds and wildlife parks, veterinary nursing, zoos, animal sanctuaries, animal training organisations
