You will be spending up to three days a week at College where you will be working with College animals to develop your knowledge and practical skills. You will also spend one or two days a week at a local work placement. Are any trips or visits involed? Students will go on trips to local animal care establishments to practice specific skills and increase the variety of animals that they work with. What about assessments? Students are assessed through a series of individual practical assessments, both at College and at the work placement. Any work placements? One or two days a week are spent working in a local placement which is chosen to suit your interests. We help you to find a suitable animal centre and encourage you to try out several placements. During the placements we will provide you with substantial tutorial support. These placements help you to gain valuable skills and experience and can often result in employment. Where now? The wide range of skills, qualifications and experience gained from this course open up many opportunities to students both within the animal care industry and elsewhere.
