Foundation Degree Supply Chain Management Overview This foundation degree will ensure that you are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge required to operate in today?? s challenging purchasing management environments. Description This course is ideally suited to those wishing to pursue a career within a supply chain management capacity and for experienced professionals who want to study at a higher level to develop and reflect on their practice. The Foundation Degree Supply Chain Management is an innovative and flexible programme of study which has been designed in conjunction with the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) and Leeds Metropolitan University. Students wishing to gain the CIPS Foundation and Advanced Diplomas must be registered with CIPS.The course provides thorough academic underpinning and practical skills development relevant to the competitive environment of supply chain management. This programme is validated by Leeds Metropolitan University. How long is the course? Two years. Study consists of two evenings per week or one afternoon and one evening per week (other options may be available subject to demand). How will I be assessed? Assessment methods are varied and may include written reports, presentations, case studies, individual/group projects and reflective statements. Where modules are work-related, assessment will relate to your own organisation and/or vocational setting. What will I study? There are a total of 16 modules including: o Effective Negotiation in Purchasing and Supply o Developing Contracts in Purchasing and Supply o Measuring Purchasing Performance o Managing Purchasing and Supply Relationships o Management in the Purchasing Function o Risk Management and Supply Chain Vulnerability o Operations Management o Marketing for Purchasers o Personal and Professional Development o Work-Related Learning What does the course lead to? Supply Chain Management graduates are qualified for a career in purchasing and supply. Your acquired skills also mean that you will be equipped for a wide variety of management and marketing positions in both the public and private sectors, charities, the arts and local government. What can I go on to study? On successful completion of the Foundation Degree, you will have achieved 240 CAT points and will be eligible to progress to the BA (Hons) Business and Management top-up award (validated by Leeds Metropolitan University) available at West Notts College. You will also achieve the CIPS Foundation Diploma and CIPS Advanced Diploma if registered with CIPS. Upon completion you could opt to progress to the the CIPS Graduate Diploma. How much does it cost? Course fees are payable for each year of all university level courses. Entry Requirements All applicants will be invited to an interview to discuss qualifications, experience and any other related issues. To study this course, you will be expected to have at least one of the following: o Full A Level and three GCSEs at grade C o NVQ Level 3 in a related subject o BTEC National Certificate/Diploma in a related subject o Other relevant Level 3 qualification If you have relevant work experience rather than qualifications, we will take this into consideration at the interview. Literacy and numeracy skills at Level 2 are essential. In some cases we do offer places on the course to students who do not have Level 2 skills on condition they attend compulsory classes at the beginning of term.
