Foundation Degree in Heritage, Construction and Conservation Management Course Level Level 5 Course Description Subject to Validation. This 3 to 4 year part-time Foundation Degree gives you the opportunity to improve your practical, managerial and academic skills, in the context of heritage construction and conservation of buildings. You will be provided with structured training opportunities to experience a variety of projects and applications relating to heritage in the built environment. You will focus on personal skills development in year one and two and advanced technical skills in year three and four. You will be encouraged to develop your contacts and extend your knowledge of professional practice. The course is delivered through a range of formal lectures, seminars, workshops and discussion groups. In addition, the practical work is undertaken within your employment or further afield if appropriate. You will be expected to carry out independent study throughout the course. The planning and undertaking of live projects is also a feature of the program. Awarding Body Course Content You will undertake: Work based modules; (2 at level 4) and (2 at level 5) Personal and professional development modules; (2 at level 4) and (2 at level 5) You will also study Level 4 mandatory modules: Architecture and History of the Vernacular Buildings in the Region Management Principles and Application Materials for Renovation and Conservation Optional Module (Choose 1): Health and Safety Management Measurement Site Surveying You will also study Level 5 mandatory modules: Law and the Built Environment Managing Heritage Construction Projects Planning and Scheduling Works Surveying and Recording for Renovation and Conservation of Historic Buildings Additional Qualifications n/a Career Progression Progress onto degree level study Employment within the heritage sector, including conservation management, site and contract management, surveying and planning. Campus Work Experience Work related learning is an important part of this course. You will negotiate work experience or a placement with your tutor.
