Foundation Degree in Early Years Studies in association with Canterbury Christ Church University This Foundation Degree provides an opportunity for people who are working with young children in an educationalchild care setting to develop their professional understanding, knowledge and key skills whilst still working. Pathways through the Foundation degree will allow students to gain a specialism in areas such as birth to three or leadership and management in early years. Content Includes: ? Reflective Practice ? Child Development ? The Contemporary Early Years Context ? Research and International Perspectives ? Effective learning and teaching in the Early Years Duration: Two years, one day a week, plus work-based learning Entry requirements: The Foundation Degree is designed for people who may not have traditional A-levels, but who have considerable experience of working in the fields of education andor childcare, and can demonstrate the potential to work at a Higher Education level. There are four entry requirements, requiring that applicants: 1. Be employed for a least the equivalent of a half-time post (or a voluntary capacity) in work with children. 2. Have a GCSE at grade C (or equivalent) in English Language 3. Normally have an NQF (NVQ) Level 3 qualification (or equivalent). If not, you may be able to undertake an Orientation course to enable you to then enter the Foundation Degree in Early Years. 4. Have had two years experience in a relevant work setting. Assessment: Via a variety of methods such as presentations, reflective reports, tasks carried out in your work place, short essays. Progression: Successful students will be able to progress in their career in early years employment will be able to seek employment as a Registered Teacher, including participation in RT programme and study to a full degree progress to the second or third year of a degree or onto professional programmes.
