Arboriculture Course: Foundation Degree in Arboriculture Code: LBI9007P Duration: 36 Weeks Location: Kirkley Campus Start Date: 28th September 2009 Interview Required: Yes Who is the course for? This is aimed at those personnel employed in the industry, who wish to further their academic careers, in addition to their own on going personal professional development. Do I need any formal qualifications? Level2/level3 qualifications, plus practical work experience. What will I study on the course? IT ,Communication and reports, Management of tree care operations, Tree Biology, Trees and the law, Woodland management, Dendrology , Project management. How is the course organised? One day per week over two years. How will my progress be assessed? A range of assessment methods are used including plant identification tests, assignments and end module exams. Can I gain any extra qualifications while on the course? Additional practical skills might be available for appropriate candidates. What final qualification will I get if I am successful? Fd Arb Sc Arboriculture. What can I do after completing this course? Look for promotion within industry, develop own role within the industry. Can I receive any financial support whilst I am studying? Financial support is available and depends on the type of qualification you are studying and whether you are a full time or a part time learner. The Education Maintainance Allowance (EMA) scheme enables eligible learners to receive up to ?30 per week for studying at College, as well as bonus payments of ?100. The Adult Learning Grant (ALG) scheme enables eligible learners (aged 19 or over) to receive up to ?30 per week for studying at College. College Learner Support Funds (LSF) are available and can provide financial support for eligible learners. Payments can be made towards travel to and from College, registered childcare, fee remission and help with course-related costs.
