You will also be offered a viewing day and riding assessment. The practical emphasis is also reflected in the course content. You will take equitation units in both years, together with husbandry and training units. This practical content is underpinned by a range of units designed to develop your applied scientific knowledge and business skills. The Foundation Degree includes work based learning units, giving you the opportunity to put into practice the skills and knowledge gained at college. The equine centre is a vital resource for all FdSc students. Not only will you ride there during your course, you will use the resources for investigating assignments, to understand the management of a commercial sized centre and play a major role in helping to run events and shows. An international study tour is invaluable in widening your awareness of the equine industry. It's also great fun and provides a chance to get to know your fellow students better. Entry requirements Passes in at least three separate subjects in GCSE to include English and Maths and a pass grade in a relevant National DiplomaCertificateAward or at least one A Level pass or equivalent academic qualifications or appropriate professional qualifications. Work-based learning Work-based learning plays an important part in the FdSc programme, both through Equine Centre duties and work placements in Years 1 and 2. We will encourage you to select placements that not only develop your skills, but give you the opportunity to experience good practice. Career opportunities The equine industry is an ever expanding leisure sector with plenty of career opportunities for those with good qualifications and practical skills.
