Foundation Degree Engineering (Electrical) Yr 1 (I) (Tue & Thur 5.30-9.00) (HEFCE) ACE0048 Is it for me? Yes, if you are looking to develop your range of skills and knowledge in mechanical and electrical engineering in order to improve your employability and potential for career progression. The two year course will provide a foundation for a professional career in engineering. The programme is validated by the University of Sunderland and will be delivered at Gateshead College's Skills Academy. What do I need? The most valuable requirement is experience working as a mechanical or electrical engineer. You may also hold qualifications at Level 3 such as A Levels, an NVQ or BTEC Diploma. What will I study? The course covers a range of subjects relating to engineering with emphasis on workplace application. Analytical methods Engineering science Leadership PLC's* Electrical and electronic principles* Work based project 1 Project management. Quality assurance and management Business management techniques Mechanical principles* Electrical power* Work based project 2 * Modules apply to students opting to take either electrical or mechanical engineering modules. Where will I study? Skills Academy for Automotive, Manufacturing, Engineering and Logistics. Our purpose built ?5.5million centre is a business led facility with state-of-the-art resources and equipment including; spray booths, a rolling road, a welding workshop, and driving simulators for cars and forklift trucks. How will I be assessed? Students are assessed on various assignments completed throughout the two year course.
