Foundation Agriculture and Countryside Introduction If you are interested in finding out about land use, the environment and conservation, then this is the course for you. A career in the countryside involves variety, flexibility and responsibility, leading to tremendous job satisfaction. About the course This is a practical course for people with little or no experience in agriculture or countryside/conservation work, or who need to improve their confidence or their reading and writing skills before moving on to another course. The course includes Investigating land, environment and woodland management Practical skills, eg: Stock-handling, tractor driving, fence building, hedge planting Preparing for work Functional skills in Maths, English or ICT Length of the course 1 year What qualifications will I gain? Level 1 qualification in Land Based and Related Industries Functional skills in Maths, English or ICT Course options after this programme National Certificate in Agriculture National Certificate in Environmental Conservation Apprenticeship in Agriculture Career options A wide range of land and environment based jobs, working with animals, in horticulture, in conservation, in farming or working with machinery Combine work with further learning on a foundation or advanced modern apprenticeship in agriculture or countryside based careers
