First Diploma in Applied Science Level 2 Programme Code: SS2FD Awarding Body: EDEXCEL Related Programme Areas: LABORATORY SCIENCE Biology Who is the programme for? Those who have a career aim in science, medical science or forensic science but do not have 4 GCSE's at grade C or above (inc science). What will I study? You will study two core units: * Scientific Principles * Science and the World of Work You will also study four specialist units from the following: * Chemistry Applications * Physical Science Applicataions * Biological Systems * Anatomy and Physiology * Forensic Science Applications * Science in Medicine Entry to the Programme? How is it assessed? Assessments are continuous by a range of methods including assignments, projects, case studies, laboratory work and presentations. Future prospects? You could progress to a Level 3 BTEC National Diploma in Applied Science with routes in Forensic Science, Laboratory and Industrial Science or Medical Science. Alternatively, you could use the qualification when applying for a career as a junior laboratory technician. When will the programme start? The programme will start in September. How long will it take? This is a one year full time programme, students are requested to attend 4 days per week (36 weeks). What about the Money? If you are under 19 on 31st August 2009 you will not have to pay tuition or registration fees. If you are over 19 years of age How do I apply? Complete an application form and return it to Student Services, you will then be asked to attend College for an interview. Campus Address: Town Centre Campus
