Core Units: Working Practices in Engineering This unit covers statutory regulations and safety requirements. Lots of practical work to help develop an ability to work efficiently and effectively in an engineering environment. Using and Interpreting Engineering Information This unit covers interpreting orthographic drawings and manufacturing parts to specification. Again, lots of practical to provide valuable assignment evidence. Mathematics for Engineering Technicians This unit covers solving typical engineering problems mathematically and the use of scientific calculators. The assignments require typical engineering calculations to be solved. Applied Electrical and Mechanical Science for Technicians This unit covers concepts and principles relating to both electrical and mechanical science. Specialist Units: Selecting Engineering Materials On completion of this unit, the properties and characteristics of materials will be known and a number of different materials will be identifiable. Engineering Assembly Techniques Assembly of mechanical and electrical components are the focus for this unit, lots of practical to complete to provide assignment evidence. Using Computer Aided Drawing Techniques in Engineering This unit covers engineering drawing from basic sketches to the use of AutoCAD. Selecting and Using Secondary Machining Techniques to Remove Materials Safe and efficient use of a number of machine tools is covered in this unit. Milling machines, Centre Lathes and Pillar Drills are all used to produce jobs to specification. During the course, you will also complete 2 units of the NVQ in Performing Engineering Operations at level 1. This will show potential employers that you are capable of producing the standard of work that industry requires. Hi, I am a fully trained Mechanical Engineer with 15 years of Industrial experience and 8 years of Teaching experience.
