Course Description

The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to provide adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and personnel to enable First Aid to be given to employees if they are injured or become ill at work. These regulations apply to all workplaces including those with five or less employees and to the self-employed. This course is appropriate for employees who already hold a valid First Aid at Work training certificate at the date of assessment as this is the renewal refresher course (as of 1st June 2006 you now have 28 days after this date to complete this renewal by, or attendance at a full 3 day course is required). The course content will include revision of the main programme delivered for First Aid at Work with the emphasis on practice in simulated situations and updating on revised procedures. A practical assessment takes place on the last day. The revision covers: ? Incident management ? Resuscitation ? Shock ? Bleeding ? Respiratory emergencies ? Unconsciousness ? First Aid kitsboxes and legislation ? Fractures, sprains and strains ? Spinal injuries ? Burns & scalds ? Eye injuries ? Poisoning ? Record keeping ? Hygiene This First Aid training course is HSE accredited as The College of West Anglia is an HSE approved training centre. We offer First Aid at Work Refresher courses over 2 days either consecutively or 1 day a week for 2 weeks held at our Downham Market centre. Alternatively we can deliver the course in house at your place of work. All persons passing the course will receive a College First Aid at Work training certificate with HSE approval valid for 3 years.
