Course Description

To qualify course participants in the skillsknowledge needed to achieve the Health & Safety Executive's Approved First Aid at Work Course, in accordance with the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1991. Once qualified holders of the First Aid at Work Certificate can be used as First Aiders in the workplace in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974. The course can be adapted to suit a specific audience, for example childcare, engineering or clerical. The First Aid at Work course is run over four days andincludes both theory and practical exercises. By arrangement the course can be run on none consecutive days. Objectives & Course Content The course syllabus will include: Treating someone who has stopped breathing and whose heart has stopped. Dealing with wounds & bleeding. Looking after a casualty who is shocked Recognising medical conditions such as diabetes,epilepsy & asthma. Treating broken bones and soft tissue injuries. Recognising hypothermia and trearing it Looking after burns and scalds How to help a poisoned victim Obtaining advanced medical assistance. Legislation and First Aid kits. A.E.D. & Substances (where appropriate) Assessment Accident Approach Dealing with unconsciousness Open Course Cost: ?195 + vat, includes course booklet, certification & testing. (Minimum numbers apply) European funding may be available to Greater Merseyside based companies which will reduce the cost to ?97.50person + Vat Certification Course participants are independently examined twice on the final afternoon of the course.Upon successful completion the delegate will be awarded a H.S.E. First Aid at Work certificate which will be valid for three years.
