Content Summary Health & Safety Action at an emergency ABC, Top to toe check, Recovery position Mouth to mouth Heart compressions Choking, Respiratory system Causes of unconciousness Heart Attack, Diabetes Circulation, Control of severe bleeding, Bandaging First Aid Kits, Risk Assessments Reporting & Record Keeping Recognising illness in the workplace Skeleton, Fractures, Head & Back injuries Sprains & Strains Lifting & Handling Burns, Scalds, Heat related ailments Poisoning, Toxins Foreign Bodies in the eyes and ears Other topics Assessment Formal assessment by 2 separate assessors at the end of the course. Oral questions and practical simulations. Course Material First Aid at Work manual , Handouts Duration 3 Days Type Classroom Certificate Successful completion of this course will result in a Duchy College (HSE registered assessment centre) certificate of Attendance. Validity Currently valid for 3 years then retake a 2 day refresher course with assessment prior to expiry of previous certificate. Pre-requisites All trainees must be over 16 and in reasonable health. Some written work - basic literacy skills are required to enable candidates to deal with accident reporting procedures and record keeping. More Info This course involves some homework - both written and practical. Casual clothing, ladies may prefer to wear trousers. Practical work involves simulations of the unconscious casualty.
