FdSc Foundation Degree in Road and Race Car Technology (full-time) Who is the course for? The course aims to develop the skills and knowledge needed to become a highly qualified Engineer in the Automotive or Motorsport Industry. You will be prepared for employment in the industry through taught sessions, visits from professionals and a range of work placement opportunities. The course will equip you with the knowledge and skills to become a valued employee within either of the automotive or motorsports industry. The link with Oxford Brookes University will ensure that the quality and relevance of this Foundation Degree will be of the highest level. What will I study on the course? Modules include: ? Advanced vehicle electronics ? Composite materials technology ? Road and race car advanced vehicle technology ? Computers in road and race car technology ? Advanced engine technology ? Engineering science ? Computer aided design ? Vehicle handling and aerodynamics ? Business management techniques ? Microprocessors ? Manufacturing management ? The experience of being part of a race team How long is the course? The course is run over three days per week over two years at college in combination with self directed study. Will this course lead to a qualification? A Foundation Degree in Automotive and Motorsport Technology from Oxford Brookes University. What can I do on completion of this course? You can progress onto a range of final year degree courses including BSc in Automotive Engineering or Motorsport Engineering at Oxford Brookes University. You will be skilled to work in a range of roles within the Automotive or Motorsport industries. How much will it cost? The cost of the course is ?1,500 per year 2009/10. All full-time students starting in 2009 can apply for a loan to cover their entire tuition fee and a means tested maintenance loan, of up to ?4,950 (less if you live at home) to help cover living costs. Students from low income families may be eligible for a non repayable Maintenance Grant of up to ?2,906. Applications for all loans and grants need to be made through Student Finance England. Students in extreme financial hardship may be eligible for further funding via the Access to Learning funds by applying direct to Oxford Brookes University.
