Course Description

ForMission equips Christian leaders to transform their communities through accredited training, thought leadership and missional support. Our cutting-edge undergraduate programmes focus on missional and biblical theology, with practical application to prepare you for employment after graduating.

We welcome students who are passionate to develop their skills in missional leadership and ready to bring about change in this world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

This programme delivers high quality cutting-edge effective missional education and training. It achieves this by providing participants with courses exploring the latest thinking in Christian leadership, Biblical studies, theology, mission and ministry. It equips emerging missional leaders to work more effectively with work-based learning opportunities that enable theory to be applied in practice.

The course combines theological and biblical study with a mission emphasis and practical work experience. You will gain an understanding of missional theology and explore the foundations of Christian belief, practice and missional ministry within your church, organisation or training context.

The course is divided into three elements:

  1. Class time – 1-2 days a week at a local campus, for teaching, facilitation, tutorials and cluster time
  2. Practical work-based learning – working for at least 12 hours a week in a placement/training context
  3. Independent study – 1-2 days a week

In order to create a new mindset for mission, the course facilitates creative interplay between personal learning packs (study guides), discussion and reflection with other students, written assignments, work-based learning tasks and coaching support.

  • Learning Resources: you will have access to study guides and to the College’s online library and lending resources via Moodle (Virtual Learning Environment). You will use these to prepare for participation in classes, tutorials and cluster time.
  • Assignments: Each module has written assignments, such as essays or reports, and sometimes class presentations or debates.
  • Work-based Learning: Each module also includes practical tasks to be fulfilled in an organisational and/or ministry context, to enable you to develop practical skills and experience of Christian leadership.
  • Regular Tutorials and Supervision: you will meet regularly with your Campus Tutor and with your Work-based Supervisor. Work-based assessment, including an electronic journal, is an important element of the course.

Educational Requirements

To be considered for admission to the BA based on your educational qualifications, you must have GCSE English (grade ‘C’/ grade 5, or above), and at least 2 A Level passes (grade E or above), or the equivalent.  If your most recent qualifications are over five years old, you may also be asked to take an Initial Student Evaluation (ISE).

Other Entry Routes

If you do not meet the educational requirements, you may still be considered for admission:

  • If you are below the age of 21, you may still apply for admission to the BA with Foundation Year
  • If you are over the age of 21, you may still apply for admission either directly to the BA or to the BA with Foundation Year

All applicants who do not meet the educational entry requirements will be asked to take an ISE, and the results of this test will help us to evaluate your application.

If you apply for direct admission to the BA programme but do not meet the entry requirements, you may be offered a place on the Foundation Year. Successfully completing this will lead to progression onto the BA programme.
