Course Description

Description For nearly 35 years, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons has been a driving force in the field of EMS education through the establishment of EMT standards throughout the world for emergency care providers. By building on the skills and knowledge gained as a First AiderFirst Responder, this 10 day course presents participants with the opportunity to extend their skills and knowledge. This will enable participants to competently deliver an enhanced level of care to the sick and injured in the area of pre-hospital emergency care and high dependency ambulance transportation. To remain registered and qualified at this grade, attendance at our 3 day annual recertification course including a CPRAED update is required. Duration A 10 day course consisting of theory and scenario based practical work that builds on your basic First AidFirst Responder skills. Syllabus Preparing to be an EMT-B Airway management Patient assessment Medical Emergencies Trauma Emergencies Special Populations EMS operations ALS techniques Certification Subject to assessment, all participants will be awarded an EMT-B certificate approved by the Australasian Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (AREMT). This qualification is valid for one year (subject to meeting annual recertification requirements) and is linked to your international registration as an EMT-B. Numbers A maximum of six students can be accommodated on this course.
