Course Description

This is an accelerated, fast-track, nine month programme which provides a rigorous training in core skills in analytical Economics and Econometrics as well as allowing some specialisation in chosen areas of the subject. It is intended for graduates whose first degree did not focus on Economics. It may be taken as an independent qualification or as a preliminary year of study before a specialist MSc programme. Progression to the MSc stage is linked to performance. Programme Structure Mandatory Units These mandatory units are taken from the School's undergraduate programmes: - Microeconomics 3 - Mcroeconomics 3 - Econometrics (QM3) - Optional Units You must select two specialised units, from a list that is announced each year. This list includes both 2nd and 3rd year undergraduate units, and students must choose at least one 3rd year unit. A typical list might include: - Economics of Developing Countries - Labour Economics - Industrial Economics - International Economics - Macroeconomic Theory and Policy - Games and Information - History of Economic Thought - Principles of Finance - Public Economics - Current Economic Problems Application deadline: 1st July IELTS score: 6.5 in all bands
