The new IOSH Managing Safely Course Overview At last! The IOSH Managing Safely Course has been completely rewritten, re-vamped and upgraded! Since we at Human Applications undertook the technical upgrade of both the trainer and delegate materials on behalf of IOSH, the course designers have produced a new and much-improved package that we're proud to have been a part of. At last, the tired old Managing Safely course has jumped, in one leap, into the 21st century. It's practical, it's interesting, its dynamic and, when presented by ourselves, its based on real-world examples, a realistic knowledge-base and practical tools and techniques. This IOSH-accredited course offers a broad and very practical introduction to a wide variety of health & safety management issues and concerns and is aimed at middle and first-line managers with direct responsibilities for local safety management. The course equips managers such as these with the essential tools for developing both pro-active and re-active health & safety management systems that go beyond minimum legal requirements and promote good business practice. It does this by providing a framework to make health & safety management skills an embedded part of what is to be ?a manager'. The course is run in-house in fully tailored 4-day or 5-day versions. The 5-day course includes additional time for moredetailed coverage of specific technical health & safety concerns and more time for practical sessions and action planning. Aims To enable delegates to ensure that they have the knowledge tools and techniques to manage safely To enable delegates to play an active role in their in-house health and safety management processes and systems To enable delegates to actively contribute to the development of an effective safety culture in their organisation Learning objectives After the course delegates will be able to: Understand the legal moral and business context for modern health & safety management Recognise, identify and evaluate relevant workplace and work-related risks Identify and implement appropriate risk control measures Identify the relevant technical legislation, guidance and sources of advice for H&S concerns Set performance standards for health & safety and understand how to ensure competencies Develop and implement active monitoring systems, recording and analysing results Play an active part in incident reporting and investigation Play an active role in developing and implementing effective health & safety management systems Understand key concepts and play an active role in basic environmental management Prerequisites None, but delegates would benefit from exploring their own organisation's health and safety policies, procedures, risk assessments and accident/incident investigation systems prior to attendance.
