Construction Course: Diploma in Wall and Floor Tiling Level 3 Code: CON0115P Duration: 33 Weeks Location: Ashington Main Campus Start Date: 17th September 2009 Interview Required: Yes Who is the course for? For people who have achieved an ICA (Intermediate Construction Award) qualification but wish to further develop their skills & knowledge via more complex training activities. Do I need any formal qualifications? Yes, an appropriate ICA (Intermediate Construction Award) or similar. You will be required to attend an informal interview with the course team leader. What will I study on the course? Health & safety, setting up work stations, organising resources, complex wall/floor tiling, set out for complex wall/floor tiling. How is the course organised? The main enrolment period is in September, but there may be opportunities to enter the course at other times subject to availability. The course runs on a day release basis (9.00am - 4.30pm) for 1 year. How will my progress be assessed? Via both written & practical tests in college & an externally set & marked end test. Can I gain any extra qualifications while on the course? Yes, you could gain key skills qualifications in Application of Number & Communication. Also depending upon your circumstances you could enrol onto one of our many part time courses. What final qualification will I get if I am successful? Diploma in Wall and Floor Tiling Level 3 What can I do after completing this course? Self employment, an NVQ Level 3 in the same trade area (you must have gained employment to pursue this option), a National Certificate in Construction or a National Diploma in Construction. Can I receive any financial support whilst I am studying? Financial support is available and depends on the type of qualification you are studying and whether you are a full time or a part time learner. The Education Maintainance Allowance (EMA) scheme enables eligible learners to receive up to ?30 per week for studying at College, as well as bonus payments of ?100. The Adult Learning Grant (ALG) scheme enables eligible learners (aged 19 or over) to receive up to ?30 per week for studying at College. College Learner Support Funds (LSF) are available and can provide financial support for eligible learners. Payments can be made towards travel to and from College, registered childcare, fee remission and help with course-related costs.
