Construction Course: Diploma in Plastering Level 2 Code: CON0052F Duration: 35 Weeks Location: Prudhoe Start Date: 14th September 2009 Interview Required: Yes Who is the course for? This course is for people who want to make a career within the Construction industry, but at present may be unemployed or employed in a different industry. Do I need any formal qualifications? No formal qualifications are necessary but an interest in Plastering is essential. What will I study on the course? Health & safety, move & handle materials, efficient work practices, basic fibrous work, repair & maintenance, fix plasterboards, internal work, external work, floor screeding, key skills at level 1 in Application of Number & Communication. How is the course organised? The main enrolment period for this course is in September but there will be the opportunity to enter at other times if places are available. The format of the course is 2 days (9.00am - 5.00pm) per week for 1 year. How will my progress be assessed? Via written & practical tests within college & a final on-line multi choice test. Can I gain any extra qualifications while on the course? Depending upon your circumstances you could enrol onto one of our many part-time courses offered throughout the college. What final qualification will I get if I am successful? Diploma in Plastering Level 2 What can I do after completing this course? Self employment, progress onto an ACA (Advanced Construction Award) within the same trade area or an NVQ Level 2 course within the same trade area (you must have gained employment to pursue this option). Can I receive any financial support whilst I am studying? Financial support is available and depends on the type of qualification you are studying and whether you are a full time or a part time learner. The Education Maintainance Allowance (EMA) scheme enables eligible learners to receive up to ?30 per week for studying at College, as well as bonus payments of ?100. The Adult Learning Grant (ALG) scheme enables eligible learners (aged 19 or over) to receive up to ?30 per week for studying at College. College Learner Support Funds (LSF) are available and can provide financial support for eligible learners. Payments can be made towards travel to and from College, registered childcare, fee remission and help with course-related costs.
