Overview The Aberdeen Business School Master of Business Administration Transport Strategy and Management , launched in 2008, will be the only AMBA accredited * course of its kind available in the UK. Professional recognition for the course is also being sought from the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, the principal professional body for the transport industry. The course has been tailored to meet the needs of established transport professionals working in both the public and private sectors. It is delivered by The Centre for Transport Policy which enjoys an international reputation in the fields of rural transport, transport energy and climate change, Scottish transport policy, and journey making and behavioural change. The Centre also specialises in providing advice to transport policy makers, working alongside all levels of government and the private sector. The expertise of Professor David Gray will be reflected in the individual specialist MBA modules. In addition, leading industry figures (such as Brian Cox) with experience of managing in the transport sector will play a prominent role in course development, including advising on course content, assisting in module development and contribute transport 'master classes' during the course's leadership week. * subject to accreditation Course Features and Content This programme has been developed to provide a high quality course specifically designed for transport professionals working in both the public and private sectors. The six core modules and strategic management module will provide experienced practitioners in the transport sector with the advanced business, management and leaderships skills needed to function at a strategic level. The four specialist modules focus on the wider decision making context for strategic management in the transport industry, including policy making at national and local levels. These modules are: Transport Policy Transport and the Environment Transport Planning and Behaviour Transport Leadership, Communication and Change On completion of these an individual project is then required where you will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge and research skills within a practical setting. Career Opportunities It is expected that students graduating with an MBA Transport Strategy and Management will act as future leaders in the transport industry, filling senior management positions in national and international bus, rail and aviation operators, transport consultancies and public sector transport authorities. MBA Transport Strategy and Management Structure of the Course The general structure and aims of the MBA Transport Strategy and Management course are as follows: Stage 1 - Core Management Modules These modules focus on operational and strategic aspects of business decision making within the key functional areas of organisations. Their study provides background and insight into the major aspects of the internal and external business environments. In addition they provide knowledge and understanding in the application of information analysis and presentation. Stage 2 - Strategic Management Module This module aims to provide you with practical skills in the analysis of complex corporate situations and the generation of effective and innovative strategies for organisational success.
