Course Description

The BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND) is designed for students who are aiming for a career in professional/management in business.

The BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business is a specialist programme with a strong work related emphasis. This is a QCF qualification which offers a sound basis in the concepts and application of business management required in private and public sectors of the economy both nationally and globally. The HND in Business allows progression towards university degree for high achieving learners.

This is a 2 year full time programme. A total of 16 units will be arranged over the 2 years. Students will study 8 core units and 8 business specialist units.  Students will be assessed through assignments and projects.

Entry Requirements

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age
  • Applicant must possess either BTEC National level 3 in Business or in a relevant area, or
  • One A-Level in a relevant subject with at least 3 GCSEs passes; or
  • Two A-levels passes; or
  • An Access to Higher Education Certificate awarded by an approved further education institution
  • Equivalent overseas qualifications are also accepted
  • Applicants over 21 years of age must have at least 5 GCSEs including Math and English plus minimum 2 years relevant working experience. Without formal qualification with appropriate long work experience may also be accepted
  • English Language Proficiency and Business Intelligence Tests ( College based) will be conducted for UK/EU students
  • The College can consider applicants’ prior learning when considering their acceptance on a BTEC Higher Nationals, under its policy of recognition of Prior Learning
