Course Description

This interactive e-learning course is designed to advance the National Strategy for Dementia (launched in 2009) and will provide learners with the core information needed to care well for a person with dementia. The course is person-centred and will enable people who find themselves looking after someone with dementia - in the health, community or social care professions or as a relative - to understand the condition and to explore how best to manage it. The Subject Matter Expert is Dr Ann Marshall, Consultant Clinical Psychologist in Older People's Mental Health, Southern Health NHS Trust together with expertise from Dementia UK. Course Content: scenario-based includes experiences of those affected and carers , with Pre- and Post-course Assessment and course exercises, leading to a Certificate: Mod.1 What is dementia? Mod.2 How does dementia affect behaviour? Mod.3 Supporting people with mild dementia Mod.4 Caring well for people with moderate to severe dementia Mod.5 Caring for yourself and other carers
