Outcome: A STCW ?95 OOW (Officer Of The Watch Certificate of Competency, plus EDECXEL/SQA National/Scottish Vocational Qualifications Levels 2/3 in Marine Operations, and B.Sc (Honours) award. Minimum Entry Requirements: The number of UCAS points required for entry onto the programme varies across the different universities. Most require either Maths or Physics at GCE ?A?/SCE ?H? level. Framework: 5 alternating sea and college phases as per the outline below. Sea Service Requirement: 12 months minimum. Watchkeeping Service: 6 months minimum completed within the last 12 months of sea service. College Time: 3 academic years. Total Time: 3 years, 10 months, to first certificate (based on 12 months sea service). University: Liverpool John Mores, Plymouth, Southampton Solent and Strathclyde. Leave: Included with the sea periods. Start Dates: September. Associated Training Record Book : MNTB engineer VQ (Level 2/3) training Portfolio. Programme Outline and Phasing Phase And Location Duration Phase Objective Short Course/ Certificates Acquired Year 1 At College 39 weeks Introduction, safety, general ship knowledge, and underpinning knowledge for N/SVQ (Level 2) and degree studies. EFA FF (B) PSSR PST Summer Vaccation At Sea 3 months Introduction to life at sea. Practical training and collection of performance evidence for N/SVQ (Level 2/3). None Year 2 At College 39 weeks Review of progress, assessment for N/SVQ (Level 2) and further degree studies. EDH PSC & RB NARAS (O) N/SVQ (Level 2) Year Out At Sea 14 months Practical training and completion of N/SVQ performance evidence. Bridge watchkeeping. None. Year 3 At College 39 weeks Final assessment of N/SVQ (Level 3), completion of degree studies, and preparation for MCA OOW Oral Examination. FF (A) N/SVQ (Level 3) MCA OOW COC
