Course Description

CSkills - FG1 Course CSkills F Gas Regulations Course FG1: This is a training and assessment course for up to 8 candidates. This course is aimed at intermediate level engineers who feel that they would benefit from an overall review of refrigeration systems and the CSkills content with the addition of more practical experience prior to undertaking the assessment. Engineers will need a small amount of experience in brazing before attending the course but a brief practical session will be carried out for those whom need extra hands on experience. Candidates who wish to comply with the new F-Gas Regulations and be able to handle refrigerants safely and competently will find this course invaluable. The environmental and legal implications regarding Safe Refrigerant Handling makes this course essential for persons directly or indirectly connected with refrigerants from Designers, Managers, Installers, Service and Maintenance engineers. For all new entrants or someone wishing to cross skill to enter this valuable and lucrative trade we have other courses which would suit the intense study required. . Successful candidates will be qualified to undertake leak checking, recovery, installation, service and maintenance of equipment. . The training will cover all the following module: Identify basic systems, terms, principles, units and how these relate to theory and thermodynamics of vapour compression cycles and refrigerants. Identify the causes and effects of global warming and climate change. Identify causes and effects of ozone depletion. Identify stationary refrigerant, air conditioning and heat-pump system. components, functions and leakage risk. Identify the hazards and safe working practices for the installation, commissioning and handling of refrigerants. Fabricate and examine pipework. Undertake pressure testing, evacuation and record completion. Undertake refrigerant charging, leak checking and record keeping. Undertake recovery of refrigerant and oil and prepare for disposal. Theory training will consist of: Environmental and Legal Regulations covered are. The Ozone Layer CFC Damage Refrigerants and Global Warming The Montreal Protocol The EU Regulations Waste Disposal Requirements of the EPA 1990 Risk Assessments Refrigeration Best Practices BS EN 378 (previously BS 4434). Practical training will consist of: Refrigerant Recovery and Handling: Identification of Common Refrigerants Identification using Standing Pressure Test Definitions Options for the Reuse of Refrigerants Refrigerant Recovery Using Recovery Units Safe Decanting Techniques.
