Content Following the recent publication of Valuing Employment NOW, there is a clear drive to increase the numbers of people with learning disabilities into paid work. The event will look at developing the skills and talents of people in ways that they can use these for self employment, developing micro-businesses and build their confidence to work alongside others. The day will cover: ? Using person centred approaches to understand people?s skills, wishes and talents ? Harnessing skills and talents for paid work ? Understand micro-businesses and how these can work positively for people ? Practical examples and show cases of successful businesses run by people with learning disabilities ? Developing self advocacy to support professionals in their work and increase confidence and learning By the end of the event, participants will have a clear understanding of a range of approaches that can be introduced to support people with learning disabilities into paid work. Who for People with learning disabilities, family carers and people who work in supported employment organisations and supporting others in employment.
