Course Description

Respiratory Training The prevalence of Asthma within the UK remains high, despite effective treatment and management options being available. It still accounts for 1200 deaths per year (2006) and a high rate of admission, 75% of which are completely avoidable. This study day is designed for experienced healthcare practitioners and aims to enhance knowledge and skills relating to diagnosis and management of asthma, based upon contemporary evidence and guidelines. Aims and Objectives This interactive study day will enable practitioners to: Apply the recommendations from the National Strategy for Services for COPD (2010) Explore and discuss recent updates to the BTSSIGN asthma management guidelines and consider their application to practice Discuss the evidence surrounding the one airway concept and its application to individual patients in terms of e.g. allergic rhinitis and its relationship to asthma Discuss the treatment and management of acute exacerbations Apply recently published clinical research to the management of their patients and examine what implications this will have to local policies and protocols Delegate Feedback: (200910) Well presented, plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion Plenty of food for thought and updated satisfactorily Case studies covered all aspects Excellent day, very informative, thank you
