Course Description

The Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (PDHRM), the Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Development (PDHRD) and the Postgraduate Diploma in Employee Relations (PDER) are variants within an integrated two year programme. The PDHRM, PDHRD and PDER are accredited by the CIPD and will lead to Graduate Membership of the Institute. These qualifications are the gold standard for people in the HR profession, with the Institute having 120,000 chartered and studying members in the UK. Nottingham Business School is a CIPD Centre of Research Excellence. The course aims have been developed from the previous courses and are modified to incorporate the CIPD?s leadership and management standards. They are designed to: ? develop your knowledge and understanding of the major elements of managerial, personnel and development principles and practice ? enable you to demonstrate a critical understanding of contemporary issues and current thinking about organisations and their management in relation to external and internal contexts ? provide knowledge and a critical understanding of conceptual frameworks, perspectives and issues associated with the management of human resources, and enable you to apply this to practical, organisational situations ? promote the understanding and critical evaluation of the contribution of particular HR strategies, processes, procedures and practices to organisational performance ? develop your key managerial skills for personnel and development ? enable you to promote a critical and analytical approach to the use of information in human resourcing situations ? enrich your learning and enhance your selfconfidence by providing opportunities for you to make use of your occupational and organisational experience and skills ? increase your awareness and understanding of the changing context for the practice of human resourcing ? improve your career development and promotion prospects ? enable you to gain Graduate Membership of the CIPD ? offer you the opportunity to specialise and to be awarded the PDHRD (Human Resource Development) or the PDER (Employee Relations). Entry requirements: Both of the following: ? A 2.2 degree or qualifications deemed to be equivalent by the University. ? At least two years? experience in an HR environment (or the equivalent).
