Awarded by Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. Course Aims The course aims to develop knowledge, understanding and competence in the core area of personnel and development and in the modules which comprise the generalist route of the CIPD Professional Development Scheme. Special Course Features ? An established programme which equips HR practitioners with the professional qualifications necessary for career development and progression ? Excellent record of examination success ? Incorporates a clear focus on the way in which HRM can support organisational effectiveness ? Provides a basis for networking with other professionals ? Sequentialresidential elements Course Content The Diploma covers three of the four fields of study which make up the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development?s (CIPD) Professional Development Scheme. The fourth field (Core Management) is covered by the Certificate in Professional Management. Successful completion of all the above fields enables students to gain graduate membership status of the CIPD. Module One The People Resourcing module rests on the need for an effective integration of organisational strategies and policies for the recruitment, selection and retention of staff and for performance management in a way that underpins business strategy and reflects the environmental challenges facing the organisation. Module Two The aim of reward policies and practices is to help attract, retain and motivate high quality people. Module Three This module is designed to develop an understanding of the context in which employee relations takes place. It embraces the strategies, policies, structures and processes used to develop and maintain employee commitment. It aims to develop skills in influencing and negotiating with managers, colleagues, individuals and groups as well as the ability to contribute to the development of appropriate strategies for the achievement of good employee relations. Module Four This module emphasises the responsibilities of Learning and Development professionals to their organisations, the individuals being developed and the wider HR community to which they belong. Module Five People Management and Development is a double module which integrates, builds on and deepens the knowledge gained across all modules. A key theme underpinning this module is that of ethics, diversity and professionalism. Module Six The Applied Personnel and Development field involves the production of a 7,000-word management report on a topic of strategic importance to a student?s organisation. It also involves the completion of a personal development plan and record. Typical Modules Include ? Applied Personnel and Development ? Employee Relations ? Employee Reward ? Learning and Development ? People Management and Development ? People Resourcing Career Opportunities The course is aimed at those already working in the field of Human Resource Management. It provides individuals with the professional qualifications necessary for career progression within the field of HRMHRD. The Diploma programme forms part of an HRM pathway and allows students to progress to an MA HRM.
