Child Care and Education Diploma - Level 2 The Level 2 Child Care and Education qualification is a brand new qualification for anyone wanting to work with children. It gives you the skills and confidence that you need to carry on with further study or to step straight into a job. What does the course involve? This cutting edge course explores the development of children from birth to 16. It covers exciting topics like children and play, plus the latest thinking in children services. It also includes placements in settings such as nurseries that will give you hands-on experience to help you with your first job. What will I study? For the Diploma qualification: You must pass Units 1 - 5 PLUS Units 6 AND one option Unit. Unit 6 - The Child Care Practitioner in the Workplace. The option Unit will be chosen by the Course Leader who will select a subject that gives you the best skills for finding work in your area. How is the course assessed? Examination at the end of the course Coursework Portfolio of evidence What else do I need to know? Learning in bite-sized chunks Starting a qualification can sometimes be tricky. It may seem like a lot of studying, and what if the course is not right for you? This qualification has been split into three stages - the AwardCertificateDiploma. This means that you can learn gradually in bite-sized chunks. Each stage of the way, you will receive a certificate recognising your success and inspiring you to continue. What other costs are there? Supplementary Costs Band B (?50 - ?150) Frequently Asked Questions How long does the course take to complete? It takes a year of full-time studying to gain the full Diploma. What jobs will I be qualified for? On finishing the Level 2 Diploma, you can work as an assistant in many places. Possible jobs could be as a nursery, pre-school, creche, parenttoddler group assistant. Toy library worker, mother's help or as an au pair. Do I need a work placement? Yes, you and your tutor will arrange suitable placements which are required to achieve Unit 6, The Child Care Practitioner in the Workplace.
