Arboriculture Course: Certificate of Competence in Chainsaw and Related Operations (CS30 AND CS31) Code: FCR0074P Duration: 1 Week Location: Kirkley Campus Start Date: Flexible/Various Interview Required: Yes Who is the course for? People who are employed in the relevant land based sector industry, mainly arboriculture or seeking employment in this field. Do I need any formal qualifications? No, some practical use of machine would be beneficial. What will I study on the course? Health and Safety requirements, Preparing and maintaining the chainsaw, Crosscutting to specified standard, Felling, Take down of hung up trees, Use of felling aids and tools, Protective clothing and safety equipment How is the course organised? The course runs for five days and assessments takes place on a different day. How will my progress be assessed? Through observation during training. Can I gain any extra qualifications while on the course? You would need to enrol on another similar type of training course. What final qualification will I get if I am successful? National Proficiency Test Council - Certificate of Competence in Chainsaw Maintenance and Operation (CS30) and Felling Small Trees (CS31). What can I do after completing this course? Apply for another Certificate of Competence training course eg CS32 Fell Medium Trees, CS38 Climb a Tree and Perform Aerial Rescue. Can I receive any financial support whilst I am studying? Financial support is available and depends on the type of qualification you are studying and whether you are a full time or a part time learner. The Education Maintainance Allowance (EMA) scheme enables eligible learners to receive up to ?30 per week for studying at College, as well as bonus payments of ?100. The Adult Learning Grant (ALG) scheme enables eligible learners (aged 19 or over) to receive up to ?30 per week for studying at College. College Learner Support Funds (LSF) are available and can provide financial support for eligible learners. Payments can be made towards travel to and from College, registered childcare, fee remission and help with course-related costs.
