Course Description

Postgraduate Certificate in Transpersonal and Integrative Supervision A one year professional training for Counsellors and Psychotherapist. Supervision Training A one year part time training programme, which is designed to be suitable for new and experienced supervisors . The training emphasises the importance of a safe learning environment where practical skills can be learnt in small to promote reflective practice. Course participants will be given the opportunity to become conversant and skilled in working with the meaningfulness of unconscious processes in supervision while integrating an understanding of the Transpersonal, and creative methods into your supervision philosophy and practice. We use seminars, lectures, discussions, student presentations, live demonstrations and observations of session, analysis of audio tapes and supervision, and learning log booka to develop practical and creative supervision skills. The written requirements are similar to the BACP supervisor accreditation scheme, should graduates wish to apply. The course is tutored by staff with a wide range of experience in supervision in diverse organisational and multicultural settings as well as in independent practice, with backgrounds in education, psychology, social work, nursing, psychiatry and the voluntary sector. Programme structure The programme is divided into two semesters over the year, with five components: Component 1 The Purpose and Theory of Supervision Focus of the component: exploring the purpose of supervision, the philosophical and ethical values that underpin supervision, and developing an understanding of the transpersonal and integrative supervision model. Component 2 Supervising in Systems Focus of the component: exploring and understanding the dynamics of the complex relationships with effects supervision, and develop good practice. Component 3 Application of the Transpersonal and Integrative Model Focus of the component: exploring and learning to apply the theories, models, techniques, skills and interventions in practice situations with other students within an ethical framework. Component 4 Clinical Practice Focus of the component: the gaining of personal experience in developing a supervision practice with relfective learning supported through supervision. Component 5 Professional and Personal Development Focus of the component: the psychological, emotional and soul journey towards personal and professional confidence, maturity and competence making use of the transpersonal and integrative model of supervision. Course Format The programme will run as a 10 weekend format, Saturday and Sundays during term time, 10:00am - 5:00pm. Course Requirements Essay on the theoretical and philosophical based of your supervision practice (1,500 words) 40 hours of supervised supervision To be supervised for a minimum of 10 hours external supervision Audio or video tape of supervision session with a written analysis A once per term presentation of supervision topic Live demonstration of a supervision session (as assessed item) To maintain and present a Professional Log Case Study following the development of a supervisory relationship. Course Recognition The course is recognised by the University of East London. Graduates will be awarded 60 Masters degree level credits.
