Course Level: Level 1 Entry Requirements: There are no formal entry requirements, although a mature approach to training and education is required as is a minimum of two references. It will also be necessary to attend a pre-enrolment interview and literacy numeracy assessment. Please note that this qualification requires full commitment to attendance and achievement. Course Description: This Level 1 qualification provides access to understanding what is involved in either Beauty Therapy or Holistic Therapies according to the route taken and acts as an introduction to competence based qualifications. Course Content: There are FOUR mandatory units plus TWO of either Beauty or Holistic units. The Core Mandatory units are: ?nit VR75 ?? Exhibit Knowledge of Elementary Anatomy and Physiology ?Unit VR144 ?? Understanding Health, Safety and Security in the Workplace ?Unit VR145 ?? Understanding the operation of a reception with sales ?Unit VR191 ?? Preparing for the workplace Beauty Therapy Route: This requires TWO further Mandatory Units. ?Unit VR192 ?? Introduction to Practices of the Beauty Industry ?nit VR193 ?? Understanding the Beauty Therapy Industry This route will give rise to the qualification VTCT Level 1 Certificate in Introduction to Therapies (Beauty) Holistic Therapy Route: This requires TWO further Mandatory Units. ?Unit VR147 - Understanding the structure and working practices in Holistic Therapies ?Unit VR148 ?? Understanding Holistic Therapies and the use of products This will give rise to a qualification with the endorsed title VTCT Level 1 Certificate in Introduction to Therapies (Holistic). Progression: Beauty route ?? The natural progression would be onto a Level 2 Beauty Therapy qualification, for example, NVQ2 Beauty Therapy. Holistic route ?? The natural progression would be onto a Level 2 Complementary Therapy qualification, for example, Level 2 Diploma in Complementary Therapies. Board: Vocational Training Charitable Trust (VTCT) Benefits: This is a Level 1 qualification which is an introduction to careers in Beauty or Holistic Therapies and is designed to allow candidates to explore their interest in these associated care orientated sectors. Because there are two main routes with the opportunity to switch between them, there is maximum flexibility to move forward. Assessment: Assessment is ongoing throughout the length of the course and may take the form of practical observations, research tasks, assignments, presentations and reception duties. Unit VR75 and VR144 are independently assessed by a VTCT test paper for each unit. Samples of work are Internally Verified (IV) on a regular basis and are also Externally Verified (EV) by an assessor from the awarding body.
