CERTIFICATE IN HORTICULTURE SKILLS Next start date(s) Sep Course Location Quarles Is this course for me? You will undertake 12 different topics during this introduction to basic skills required for gardening. What will I study? Your topic range will cover ground preparation, planting, pruning, seed sowing, plant identification and plant propagation. These are just a few options of a wide range. These are the compulsory subjects: You will do four compulsory units, these consist of practical and written evidence which is different to the other units which are just practical activity. What are the entry requirements? There are no entry requirements for this programme What can I do next? You can progress to Level 2 programmes. These are available both full time and part time at Havering College. What employment does this relate to? If you wish to proceed into employment this qualification would allow you to enter the industry as a hands on operative. How will I be assessed? Each practical task is demonstrated by the tutor and practiced by yourself. When you are ready to be assessed the tutor will check your performance againgst the standards required. 4 of the 12 units are compulsory and have written questions to go with the practical tasks. You are required to complete the written questions and the practical tasks for completion of the award.
