Foundation learning Course: Certificate in Food Studies Entry Level 1 Code: LDD0002P Duration: 35 Weeks Location: Ashington Main Campus Start Date: 15th September 2009 Interview Required: Yes Who is the course for? Adults with Learning difficultiesdiabilities. Do I need any formal qualifications? No - but you should already be able to do some independent work in the kitchen. What will I study on the course? Practical cooking skills which you can use in your home or work placement. How is the course organised? One day per week (Tuesday) for 35 weeks. 10.00am - 3.15pm. How will my progress be assessed? Assessed through your contribution to activities and building up a portfolio of evidence. Can I gain any extra qualifications while on the course? Other courses for the Extended Education programme. What final qualification will I get if I am successful? City and Guilds Certificate in Food Studies Entry Level 1. What can I do after completing this course? Progress to Entry Levels 2 and 3. Can I receive any financial support whilst I am studying? Financial support is available and depends on the type of qualification you are studying and whether you are a full time or a part time learner. The Education Maintainance Allowance (EMA) scheme enables eligible learners to receive up to ?30 per week for studying at College, as well as bonus payments of ?100. The Adult Learning Grant (ALG) scheme enables eligible learners (aged 19 or over) to receive up to ?30 per week for studying at College. College Learner Support Funds (LSF) are available and can provide financial support for eligible learners. Payments can be made towards travel to and from College, registered childcare, fee remission and help with course-related costs.
