Course Description

Course Level: Level 2 Entry Requirements: APPLICATION FORM REQUIRED. Entry on to the course is subject to interview and completion of the Certificate in Initial Counselling Skills is preferable. Students must be over 19 years old. Course Description: This course is for people who wish to develop counselling skills or are wishing to begin a progression route to counsellor practitioner training (CPCAB's Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling). Course Content: Unit 1: Use counselling skills ethically and safely Unit 2: Manage helping interactions Unit 3: Communicate empathic understanding Unit 4: Manage an active listening space Unit 5: Use self-awareness to facilitate helping work Unit 6: Use of counselling coherently Unit 7: Use study skills to help manage learning Progression: On successful completion of both Certificate in Counselling Skills and Certificate in Counselling Studies, students may progress to CPCAB Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. Board: CPCAB Benefits: The course is designed for people who use Counselling skills in their work or envisage incorporating them into their work, and for those who want to work towards a full qualification in Counselling. It is suitable for people who may wish to gain skills for use in everyday life. Assessment: Internal assessment includes 80% attendance and written evidence of learning. There is also externally assessed work.
