Beauty therapy Course: Certificate in Cosmetic Make-up Level 2 Code: BEA0032E Duration: 30 Weeks Location: Ashington Main Campus Start Date: 19th October 2009 Interview Required: No Who is the course for? Any learners who are wanting to work in the make-up industry either as a freelance make-up artist or in a Beauty Salon or work for a national cosmetics company. This course is also ideal as a taster into Beauty Therapy for those who can not commit to a full NVQ qualification Do I need any formal qualifications? NVQ Level 1 Beauty Therapy or 3 GCSE's at grade C or above or an equivalent qualification. You will also need to complete the level 3 Diploma in Health, safety, security and employment standards. What will I study on the course? Health and Safety Procedures, Eyelash and Eyebrow Tinting, Eyebrow Shaping, False Eyelashes and Make-up Techniques. How is the course organised? 1 evening a week (Monday 5.30pm-8.30pm) attending the college over 1 year (35 weeks). How will my progress be assessed? Your progress will be assessed through written assignments and written exams. You will also be assessed on client treatments within the practical part of your chosen qualification, i.e. Eye treatments and Make-up Techniques. Can I gain any extra qualifications while on the course? You can gain extra certificates of attendance on course such as Natures Way Skincare Training. What final qualification will I get if I am successful? VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Make-up Techniques What can I do after completing this course? NVQ Level 2 in Beauty Therapy TCT Level 2 Certificate in Nail Treatments, Nail Technology, Nail Art VTCT Certificate in Swedish massage, Reflexology, Indian Head Massage or Crystal Therapy Can I receive any financial support whilst I am studying? Financial support is available and depends on the type of qualification you are studying and whether you are a full time or a part time learner. The Education Maintainance Allowance (EMA) scheme enables eligible learners to receive up to ?30 per week for studying at College, as well as bonus payments of ?100. The Adult Learning Grant (ALG) scheme enables eligible learners (aged 19 or over) to receive up to ?30 per week for studying at College. College Learner Support Funds (LSF) are available and can provide financial support for eligible learners. Payments can be made towards travel to and from College, registered childcare, fee remission and help with course-related costs.
