CERTIFICATE IN BASIC PLUMBING STUDIES Next start date(s) Sep Course Location Quarles Is this course for me? This course is suitable for you if you have an interest in plumbing work and wish to work towards becoming a qualified plumber. What will I study? The course provides you with the required practical and theoretical tuition. There are a number of practical tasks that you will need to carry out during the year. This is combined with a high level of underpinning knowledge in workshop/site safety and plumbing technology. It is approximately 50/50 theory/practical. These are the compulsory subjects: You will study the following subjects: Health and Safety; Principles; Processes; Hot & Cold water; Central heating; Sanitation; Sheet Lead work; Environmental awareness; Electrical Systems; Customer Relations. What are the entry requirements? GCSE Grade C in Maths and English are required or other Level 2 qualifications by agreement at interview. You will also need a satisfactory reference and interview. What can I do next? You can progress to a Level 3 plumbing qualification. What employment does this relate to? This qualification will enhance your prospects for employment in the industry and the possibility of an apprenticeship. How will I be assessed? You will be assessed to test your knowledge and practical skills in the form of online (computer-based) multiple-choice examinations (12 over the year) and 60 practical assessments.
