Course Description

This course is for Registered Nurses needing to carry out Urethral Catheterisation of both male and female patients or service users. After successful completion of the course five mentored practices will be required During the course participating delegates will receive both theoretical and practical instruction using anatomically correct manikins. This allows confidence to be gained before conducting the procedure with patients. Introduction Introduction & tutor profile Course overview Course Programme Catheterisation Male & Female anatomy & physiology Suitable situations Equipment Preparation Procedure?theory, demonstration & practice with manikins Potential problems & resolution Post catheterisation care Assessment & Evaluation An adapted course can be delivered for Supra Pubic Catheterisation. For non-qualified care staff a Catheter Care course may be delivered.
