Description As our ageing population is on the increase, mental health problems among older adults are increasing. This course is designed for care staff who wish to increase their understanding of anxiety disorders in the elderly and to develop the appropriate skills to care for clients with anxiety. Program Course objectives/key benefits: By the end of the course delegates will understand and be able to recognise anxiety disorders in the elderly as well as be able to plan and meet the needs of those suffering from anxiety disorder. Who the course is aimed at: Anyone who works with the elderly. Course content: ? Understanding generalised anxiety disorder ? Types of anxiety disorder ? Some facts about anxiety disorders ? Causes of anxiety disorder in the elderly ? Recognising the signs and symptoms of anxiety disorders ? Treatment and care of elderly with anxiety disorder Course tutor: Amanda Cowan MSc Occupational Psychology; BSc Psychology Training method: Presented in a highly interactive format including discussion and group work. Course outcome/qualification: PTC Certificate of Attendance. Pre-requisite knowledge/qualification: To be working with people in the care field.
