CACHE FOUNDATION IN CARING FOR CHILDREN (FCC) A One Year Full-Time Programme of Study This programme is offered on a modular basis. It is made up of 7 theory units including:- Personal Development Care of Children Human Growth and Development Play Activities Food and Nutrition Orientation to Work Programme Health and Safety Practices in Home and Group Settings Work Experience The aim is for all candidates to undertake work experience in a placement. This is chosen by the College, and you may be required to travel to your work experience. Tutorial Support You will receive support and guidance throughout from our comprehensive tutorial programme. Communication, IT and Application of Number workshops are built into the timetable. Course Extension Candidates will gain an additional certificate in Citizenship. How Will I Be Assessed ? You will need to build a portfolio of course work that links to the seven units. These are set nationally by CACHE. A multiple choice question paper will also have to be successfully undertaken. You need to complete a satisfactory work experience to progress onto a further course and a one hour short question paper at the end of the course. What Do I Need To Join This Course ? This programme requires good attendance and timekeeping with the potential to act independently and safely. We will be looking for evidence to confirm this, e.g. from a reference. You need a reasonable level of English to complete the assignments, e.g. GCSE Grade E or above. What Could I Do At The End Of The Course ? If you successfully achieve excellent grades in the Foundation in Caring for Children you could be offered the opportunity to join the CACHE Certificate in Child Care and Education. You could progress to other Level 2 courses within the College.
