C&G NVQ 1 Hairdressing (I) (Wed 5.30-8.30) AAA0050 Is it for me? Yes, if you want to prepare for a career in hairdressing. What do I need? You will need to have an initial assessment in Numeracy, Literacy and ICT, entry 3 or above. You will also need to have good communication skills. What will I study? All aspects of hairdressing from client care, shampooing and conditioning, blow drying hair, reception duties, teamwork, and health and safety. You will also learn some basic colouring and perming techniques. You must also select an optional subject. Extra optional subjects include: care award, first aid certificate, beauty therapy or exercise studies, however, you may choose other subjects from the part time prospectus. Where will I study? Baltic Campus You'll be based at our fantastic ?39million Baltic campus on the quayside. The campus has a prime location on Gateshead quayside, and state-of-the-art facilities including a Jacuzzi, gym and sauna, a 200 seat theatre, state-of-the-art classrooms, training kitchen and restaurant, refectory, bistro and vending areas. How will I be assessed? You will be assessed by practical assessments, theory covering areas of assignments and written and oral questioning. How will I be taught? You will be taught by an experienced team of lecturers, in industry standard salons. What qualification will I get? City & Guilds NVQ Hairdressing Level 1 Can I go on to further study? Yes, most students go on to NVQ Level 2 and then into employment in the hairdressing industry. What are the career opportunities? You could pursue your career in the hairdressing industry via a Saturday job or a one day placement. How do I apply? You can drop in to our Baltic Campus to complete an application form. An interview is required for this course.
