C&G 6129 Plumbing Level 2 Yr 1 (Technical Cert) (Tue & Thu 6-9) AAA0157 Is it for me? This course is intended for people entering the building services industry as a plumber. This course will provide you with a sound understanding of the technical knowledge and practical skills required in the plumbing industry and will enable you to gain a recognised qualification. This course is part of the standard entry route to a career in plumbing. In order to be a fully qualified plumber you would also have to complete an NVQ in plumbing, this is only available to people that are in employment in the plumbing trade. You can talk to your tutor about this whilst you are studying your Technical Certificate. What do I need? You do not need any examination passes, it is recommended that you have previous knowledge of plumbing before embarking on this course. What will I study? During the course you will study the following: Health and Safety Hot and Cold water supply Installing and testing components Commissioning and decommissioning systems System maintenance Maintenance of a safe working environment Maintenance of working relationships Central Heating Installation Installing and maintaining sheet weathering Plumbing Principles Plumbing Processes Electrical Safety / Knowledge Where will I study? Skills Academy for Construction The ?6million Academy is home to all of our construction trade courses, including plumbing, joinery, bricklaying, decorating and electrical installation, as well as The Collective - a special partnership of the regions very best Apprenticeship providers. Assessment Assessment is based on externally set examinations and internal assessments through portfolio work. How will I be taught? You will be taught by experienced staff in the field and you will be taught in classroom activities and practical workshops. What qualification will I get? If you successfully complete the course the units achieved will be accredited to a certificate. ( City and Guilds 6129 Technical Certificate Basic Plumbing) Can I go onto further study? If you successfully complete the course you can progress to the NVQ level 2 if you are employed in the relevant area. What are the career opportunities? This course is part of a pathway to work in the plumbing industry. Some plumbers work for plumbing and building firms, some are self employed and other work for utility companies. Some are employed as maintenance workers by large organisations and local authorities. Plumbers are always in demand and self employment is a popular career choice. Does it include key skills? Key skills are not offered as part of this course. Financial Support If you are aged 16-18 and study on a full-time, further education programme then your course is free.
